ISO 9000: Benefits and Results

ISO 9000 is a series of international quality standards introduced by the International Organization for Standardization. The ISO 9000 series of measures are designed to ensure order in the system of functioning of the management system in enterprises and organizations. The ISO 9000 system is designed to ensure compliance with the quality management system. The quality standard is universal and therefore does not contain strict criteria for each type of activity. This article examines the manufacturing company that used the ISO 9000 standard and the benefits and results that it received with the help of this standard.

The American company The Toro was founded in 1914. This company is one of the world’s leading organizations that designs, manufactures, and sells a wide range of lawn mowers, snowplows, irrigation systems for residential and commercial gardens and agricultural fields. Constant innovations introduced by the company allow it to meet all the needs of customers. At the same time, the company remains faithful to the tradition of producing the best equipment in its segment. Over the years, The Toro has strengthened its position in the international market of equipment for landscape and land works and irrigation technologies.

The company has passed the ISO 9000 certification to ensure that customers are confident that they are purchasing a high-quality product, even though its reputation is already high. Having passed the certification, the company sought to take a leading position in the market of such companies, and it succeeded. Obtaining an ISO 9000 certificate is not an easy task, so the company has focused on two main areas: the development and production of lawn care products and the operations of the irrigation division. Since the certificate’s validity is temporary, the company is obliged to observe the high quality of products and pass an audit, otherwise, the certificate may be revoked.

The first benefit of the company, which it received thanks to the certificate, is the trust of customers worldwide, that is, an undoubted competitive advantage. The ISO 9000 certificate provides an understanding that the company sells has passed strict quality control, and this control is carried out throughout the entire existence of the certificate. As a result, consumers prefer this company to other similar companies.

The second benefit is focused on the client, that is, the presence of a certificate allows them not to carry out additional quality controls. This advantage applies to all companies that have a certificate of the standard. Zuki (2017) states that ISO 9000 can help a company satisfy its customers, meet regulatory requirements, and achieve continual improvement. Naturally, the customer’s trust and the fact that after the purchase, he no longer needs to put any additional time and financial effort into quality control increases the company’s leadership and its competitive advantage.

In conclusion, the ISO 9000 standard is one of the guarantors of the company’s high-quality products. This certificate allows the company to attract more customers, as the product is a priori proven and production standards are met from start to finish. By bringing business processes in line with the average, the company will significantly increase its activities’ efficiency and, therefore, increase the amount of profit. Furthermore, the company’s ISO 9000 series certificate helps to strengthen the company’s reputation in the business environment and among consumers of products. For customers, the security of buying a quality product is also essential and necessary.
