Importance of Health Care Research

To provide the high-quality services and focus on the constant improvement of approaches to resolving different health care problems, it is necessary to refer to the health care research. The systematical investigation of concrete health care aspects within the determined fields is the health care research which is used by health care professionals and scientists in order to identify trends in health care, to develop the new methods of coping with issues, and to support the effectiveness of stated hypotheses with the help of testing and survey (Jacobsen, 2012, p. 1-4). It is important for health care providers to receive the access to the most effective methods and approaches to resolve health care issues. This approach is known as the evidence based practice (Neutens & Rubinson, 2010, p. 38). Health care research is important today because it provides the significant information for health care professionals in relation to factors influencing diseases; aspects of the disease and health trends in the society; and effectiveness and appropriateness of different methods and therapies to treat a range of illnesses; thus, health care research provides the main data for the evidence based practice.

Views on Health Care Research

Health care research is defined as the systematical investigation of concrete health care features and aspects referred to the people’s physical and mental state as well as their social wellbeing. Traditional research studies used in the field are epidemiological studies, surveys, biomedical research, and these studies make the basis for the research (Jacobsen, 2012, p. 1-4). From this point, to receive the credible results and to respond to the aspects of validity and medical ethics, it is necessary to select the research methods which are the most relevant for the concrete situation. In this case, health care research becomes useful when the researcher receives the opportunity to conduct the appropriate investigation to focus on reliable and valid results.

Health Care Research’s Impact on Evidence Based Practice

Health care research provides the health care professionals with the detailed and accurate information on the trends in the health care sphere and approaches to cope with the health care issues. Evidence based practice can be discussed as the use of current best methods and practices in resolving concrete clinical problems. The professionals operating in the field of evidence based practice focus on finding, evaluating, and applying the definite research results which are related to the identified problem. These findings influence the final health care decisions (Neutens & Rubinson, 2010, p. 38-40). The effectiveness of the decision in this case depends on the quality of the provided data and on the professionals’ skills in integrating research into a practice. As a result, health care research affects the quality of the evidence based practice directly, and the significant impact of the research on the practitioners’ activity is obvious.

The idea of evidence based practice fully depends on the health care research data. Practitioners concentrate on using the empirical evidence received as a result of numerous research studies. If there is enough research evidence, practitioners can select the best practices and approaches to improve the approach to therapies, stating diagnoses and prognoses (Neutens & Rubinson, 2010, p. 38-40). Health care research with its surveys, trials, and experiments is the fundament for the evidence based practice which develops depending on the empirical valid research results combined with clinical expertise.

Importance of Health Care Research Today

Health care research is extremely important today because of the progress of technological sphere and medical science. All the innovative approaches proposed by scientists to improve the quality of health care should be assessed regarding the validity and ethical considerations with the help of health care research methods. From this perspective, the importance of health care research is in determining the factors causing diseases and social risk factors; in identifying the obvious trends in the sphere of public health; and in providing the credible information on the effectiveness of new therapies, methods, and approaches to treating different diseases (Nass, Levit, & Gostin, 2009, p. 54). Health care research is the field which should be sponsored and supported by health care providers and agencies because research in the field can provide answers to the questions about the effectiveness of medicines, therapies, interventions; about the associations between concrete factors and diseases; and about the expected outcomes of treatment and policies.

It is almost impossible to integrate definite practices, patterns, and therapies into the health care professionals’ practice till the complex health care research is completed. The integration of new clinical approaches in practice is grounded on the necessity to validate the effectiveness of new methods and innovations in the field (Neutens & Rubinson, 2010, p. 51). That is why, the only way to receive the important information is to conduct the complex research or refer to the findings of the previously completed investigations. Furthermore, health care research provides the data and grounds for conclusions not only for medical practitioners but also for the health care agencies to affect the development of new policies in the field.

Conclusion

Health care research is extremely important today, when there are a lot of innovations in medicine and approaches to therapies and treatment. Moreover, health care research is the fundament for the evidence based practice because the research findings and data are actively used by practitioners in their decision-making process. In addition, health care research is important for developing health care practices as business because research findings affect the decision of health care policy makers.
