Introduction
A professional nursing workshop took place dated to the 25th Anniversary Celebration of National Black nurses Day in L’Enfant Plaza Hotel (480 L’Enfant Plaza, SW Washington, DC 20034). This workshop was devoted to the problems which arise within the university school of nurses. To make the discussion effective, a professional and formal setting was held. Such specific themes as malnutrition and childhood obesity, health policies, and adult nutrition research and development were announced with the help of the
PowerPoint presentation slides. The presentation sponsors were the Coca-Cola Company, Pfizer Inc., Bon Secours Neuroscience Institute, and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.
Role of the Professional Nurse and Nursing Practice
The main role of professional nurses and nursing practice is in services these people provide others with. Performing technical services, nurses in most cases assist specialists in different directions of medicine. Moreover, people of this profession perform the role of individual and family advisors. The relationship between the role of professional nurses and the role of nursing practice is closely interconnected. Professional nurses are practitioners, they do not conduct theoretical research preferring to use the results of experiments in practice. This is the main connection between these two notions. Nursing practice is impossible without the participation of professional nurses and vice versa. “Nursing practice includes but is not limited to administration, teaching, counseling, supervision, delegation, evaluation of nursing practice and execution of the medical regimen” (Stepans, 2009) and these processes are impossible without professional registered nurses. Therefore, speaking about the role of professional nurses, the role of nursing practice in the life of people cannot be omitted. Both, nursing practice and registered nurses are important for the curing process.
Importance to the Nursing Profession
The importance of the nursing profession is in the assistance these people give to others. Nurses are the most informed people about patients and their conditions. Following a patient’s case, a nurse can say what the reasons for the disease are, which tests are necessary, and what specific measures are to be taken. Being a central caregiver in the healthcare system, nurses advocate for health promotion. The main responsibility of nurses in this direction is to teach patients the measures which are to be taken to prevent diseases. Additionally, nurses are responsible for the emotional condition of patients which is an important factor that promotes recovery. Working with individual patients, nurses also bear responsibility for healthy families. Therefore, it can be said that the nursing profession gives people hope for better living, this profession encourages people to action. Much research is conducted in the modern world and nurses are responsible for innovations that take place in the healthcare sphere. Conducting research, scientists are interested in the practical application of the theories they dwell upon and nurses are those who are ready to apply theoretical research results in practice (Importance of nursing, 2011). Working with people, assisting them, and trying to improve their lives, nurses take care of patients who are ready to change, who are ready to become healthier. Nurses are strong motivators for recovery. Therefore, concluding the importance of the nursing profession, it is difficult to stress one particular issue. Different people can underline several aspects which are the most important for them, however, there is one common trait which is to be agreed by everyone, a nursing procession takes care of patients and it is much more important than just curing.
