Quality Improvement in Healthcare

Quality in healthcare facilities is essential and needs to be achieved. Quality improvement is connected with enhancing safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in delivering care to patients. Thus, for healthcare to engage in primary care practices in quality improvement, it is essential to focus on improving patients’ health, promoting patient experiences and outcomes, and improving the provider experiences (Foley & Vale, 2017). There are some problems experienced in healthcare, and using quality improvement can help solve them and facilitate quality care. Therefore, the focus will be on illustrating the quality improvement to solve healthcare problems and how it will help in my application in the healthcare career.

The identified problems in the healthcare facilities are remaining profitable, providing higher care, and aligning with the ethical integrity in the medical industry. Such issues are supposed to be solved in the short term, and it is not possible if the healthcare has not fully installed the quality improvement. It means that the use of quality improvement can be vital to deal with healthcare problems, hence enhancing quality service delivery.

Consequently, quality improvement in healthcare means using a systematic approach within the healthcare organization to help monitor, assess, and improve the standards of quality in healthcare. The healthcare organization requires continuous improvement due to changes in technology and meets up the patients’ expectations, and the healthcare must live to obtain the quality improvements (Foley & Vale, 2017). The use of quality improvement in healthcare means all the activities within the organization are conducted in line with the concepts of technological tools in performing efficiently and effectively to generate significant-quality results.

The use of quality improvement in the healthcare organization can help retain or increase the profit level of the healthcare. Even though the central aim of healthcare is to provide medical care to patients, the organization needs to make profits from its activities. It has been a significant issue for healthcare to remain profitable due to a lack of quality improvements. For instance, quality improvement tools such as pharmacist-led medication therapy are essential for the organization and the patient because they can reduce the cost of providing healthcare service and the costs of the patient, which can help the healthcare maximize profit.

Many patients have been a significant worrier about the quality of care provided in various health centers, and quality improvement can solve such problems. The use of quality improvement can boost the healthcare to provide higher quality services to the patients who will assure them safety. For example, through quality improvement, the health care organization can optimize sepsis care that can enhance earlier recognition of health problems and provide necessary outcome which will promote quality services to the patients.

Using quality improvement can help to deal with the issue of ethical integrity in healthcare facilities. Moral integrity encompasses honesty, keeping the patient’s information adhering to principles of professionalism in healthcare operations. Maintaining the ethical standards in the healthcare organization may not be easy as it encompasses different workers from different cultures. But the use of quality improvement, such an issue can be solved quickly. For instance, quality improvement can boost readiness and change competencies that are key to success in the healthcare facility and reduce clinical variation. It means that quality improvement can enhance honesty in the information provided by the healthcare workers because it results from a complete analysis of the patient.

With such information and knowledge, it will be helpful in my future healthcare career because I will learn how to focus on the patient, care coordination, and focus on the use of data and other essentials within healthcare. In my career, I will regularly be interacting with patients. Therefore, what I learned in Q and H class is vital in increasing my knowledge of ways to focus on patients and meet their expectations and needs. Also, from the classes, I learned that, in my career, care coordination is required and can help to provide quality services to the patient.

Focusing on care coordination can help reduce care fragmentation of the patients by providing them with a secure and trusted network to ensure effective referrals and smooth transitions between two or more healthcare givers. Lastly, I have learned the use of data to track the changes, enhance comparisons, and monitor sustainable improvements for the patients in healthcare. Therefore, the methods learned from the quality improvement in healthcare care are essential in improving the quality of the healthcare system. Thus, applying them in my career will enhance the quality of healthcare.

In conclusion, health is paramount for all human beings, and therefore enhancing quality is providing better healthcare to the patients. From the above, quality improvement helps solve healthcare issues and, consequently, it is essential to incorporate quality improvement to deal with the prevailing problems. Quality improvement also ensures the provision of patient-centered and holistic care. I recommend that all organizations adopt quality improvement that can help them improve the service delivery process to a higher level.
