Over the past few years, technological progress has significantly evolved, playing a huge role in reshaping work. As such, firms have adopted new expertise, and more ways of production, thus making the market expands, and societies evolve. As a result, applied science brings opportunities to create new jobs, increase productivity, and deliver effective public services. In addition, the nature of work has effectively changed through the rise of digital platforms in almost every industry. Individuals need to be good at complex problem solving through teamwork and adaptability of the required skills. Furthermore, work has changed due to advancements in technology all over the globe; such technologies include e-mail, video conferencing, online shopping, door to doors delivery, and other communication tools, thus, changing the culture of a workplace, whereby there must be the acquisition of modern technological equipment. Moreover, over the past few years, the attitude towards effort has dramatically changed. In this case, more women, minorities, and people with disabilities are currently working compared to the past, thus, creating conducive competition in the industry where everyone feels welcomed. Additionally, increased tasks have resulted in a person’s need to undertake obligations from their home places without much movement to their offices.
In today’s working and business environment, people face countless challenges. As such, some careers allow a relaxed relationship between work and personal life; numerous others demand a significant reduction in leisure time with their family and friends. Hence, individuals are becoming more aware of their workforce’s rising expectations in terms of their way of life. In this case, companies have started to consider how to achieve a work-life balance in an organization by implementing targeted measures to promote this idea. Thus, employees will be more productive, happy, and more balanced, having the time for their personal life (Reeves et al., n.d). Furthermore, the nature of work and business is to be performed by a person depending on their life’s stability. In this case, if an individual has stress and destructs in their lives, it will reduce the effectiveness of work conducted. In addition, balanced work and life relationships presumably reduce conflicts because individuals are fully engaged in both roles. Further, people have to manage their time, set working hours, adhere to them, do their personal tasks, and be aware of their actions to achieve the set goals and objectives.
For a company’s success, career development is essential as it has a positive impact on the productivity of an organization. As such, it is associated with promotions of the employees through training, pay rise, providing credentials, a higher level of recognition, work rotation, and status motivation. In this case, career development brings about job satisfaction in an entity hence enabling managerial guarantee in an institute. Thus, employees will remain in an organization and work harder if the institution shows its values and concern. Furthermore, there is a reduction in employee turnover through the system’s engagement. A company will also experience high productivity, increased supply, a more customer base, and financial returns as a result of employees’ motivation towards achieving the best for an organization (Hirschi, 2018). Moreover, career development links an individual’s drive and motivation and the organization’s talent management strategy toward achieving its objectives. In addition, current information about the business and future trends helps employees create more realistic career development goals due to the future demands of the economy. Furthermore, a great sense of responsibility for managing one’s career contributes to self-confidence and appreciation. Attention to professional development helps to attract top qualified and competent staff, thus allowing an entity to be run smoothly. Additionally, it is cost-effective through using the staff talent to provide career development opportunities within the department, and as such, it contributes to learning opportunities.
The first method is the environmental cognition under which workers are evaluated on how they perceive and assess their workspace. In this case, it mainly focuses on the psychosocial impact on an individual based on the nature of work and their performing environment. Second is the Building Performance Evaluation (BPE), which ensures that user perspective is incorporated into phases of the planning, design, and construction process hence making it simpler to assess the working environment. In this evaluation, BPE measures how individuals are affected mainly by their physical context of focusing on building systems’ performance. Furthermore, BPE is designed to consider how to match personal satisfaction and workers’ comforts in a working environment. Addition, another way is the diagnostic method, in which it learns how people work and how the workspace affects work performance. As such, a person’s life can be influenced as this method tries to understand the impact of changing office technologies in a particular working environment.
Under other conditions, there is a crucial interrelationship between work roles in a company, which includes diversity, and global perspectives. For instance, the rate of variety has been greatly upheld in workplaces and in businesses. Thus, respect for cultural diverseness is based on several factors. They include a value concerning unique characteristics, qualities, cultural practices, and the need for evaluation. An individual’s culture heavily impacts the creation of confidence about the smooth environment, and as such, acknowledging the respective cultural differences plays a vital role in the improvement of the working environment. Moreover, identification of one’s culture ensures equity is portrayed in the company. Thus, the workplace principles have created fair employment and treatment of the organization’s staff globally. For instance, the treatment of people with respect and dignity, and the provision of a safe, secure, and health sustainable workplace environment have created a base of fairness. In different circumstances, globalization plays a vital role in increasing international interrelation among persons and states across the world. Globalization helps shape and understand individuals’ own identity and the interaction rates in relation to culture-shaping (Roberson et al., 2017). In addition, cultural activities involve the interconnection in various regions economically, politically, and socially.
Workplace values set the tone for the company culture, and they identify what the organization cares about. Therefore, when one follows these values, everyone acts right and has good intentions. With such common purpose and understanding, individuals are able to build great working relationships hence big achievements. Thus, the values include being completely honest to creating a good working environment with others. Additionally, delivering quality work has an impact on the organization’s focus. Moreover, one should be positive with the work mentality, be reliable when performing duties with others, have a willingness to help others when the need arises, work on behalf of others, and be a great team member who enhances the work to be performed. Further, respecting company rules, guidelines, and policies gives the base of values in work by enhancing motivation to meet work deadlines. In addition, at work, an individual should be guided by personal thoughts such as a strong work ethic where one’s mentality is the key rule to control themselves in the right direction. Moreover, self-confidence, self-motivation, self-control and the urge to grow and learn help maintain a correct attitude towards work. In relation to the values and personal thoughts of an individual, it helps an organization with counseling style hence making them future-oriented. As such, organizations will be able to access methods in which they can interact with their clients to facilitate change. In addition, through counseling at work, employees will understand themselves better, establishing and improving coping skills hence developing effective solutions to problems (Roberson et al., 2017). Furthermore, through learning, colleagues will be able to look at arising issues more positively from different work perspectives and thus helping in having solutions to every problem. Therefore, employees should always be motivated, have a goal, and hence a self-driven character to perform work correctly, according to the same objectives. In summary, a good working conditions, understanding and respecting each other should always be the culture of every entity.
