Public Health Nurses (PHNs) should be ready to assist their clients. My current job is to provide quality health services to different elderly citizens. The Centerville Area Agency on Aging (CAAA) empowers many elderly citizens using various services. The agency uses its “foot clinic” and “congregate meal site” to provide quality services to different clients. This agency has also been supporting the health needs of many elderly citizens. However, I strongly believe that most of these services do not address the needs of such citizens. That being the case, PHNs should work hard in order to support their communities (Kulbok, Thatcher, Park, & Meszaros, 2012). This essay describes how nurses can assist their communities.
Public Health Nurses should always be ready to address the health needs of different citizens. Such individuals should ensure every citizen embraces the best medical practices. The strategy will ensure more people achieve the best health goals. PHNs should “offer holistic care to their patients” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 3). This approach will fulfill “the mental, emotional, psychological, and physical aspects of every patient” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 4). This strategy will also support the health needs of many elderly citizens in different communities.
Nurses should also use powerful practices in order to produce the best health outcomes. For example, they should encourage more citizens to embrace the best health practices. A good example is “washing hands after visiting the toilet” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 13). Such PHNs should also improve the quality of health care. They should ensure every community has clean toilets. Every “community should dispose its wastes in a proper manner” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 8). PHNs should encourage every person to embrace the best health practices. This approach will support the health needs of many communities.
These “health professionals should also collaborate with various agencies and community leaders” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 7). Healthcare “is a complex issue that requires the support of many individuals” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 7). This kind of collaboration will ensure every community achieves the best health goals. PHNs should “collaborate with different nurses, community organizers, and celebrities” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 15). Nurses should use their competencies to support every community.
The role of Public Health Nurses has evolved significantly within the past few years. These practitioners should embrace new skills in order to offer the best care. PHNs should also “embrace the power of evidence-based care” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 11). This approach will make it easier for them to acquire new competencies. Nurses should create new teams. Such teams will address the major challenges affecting different communities. Some of “these problems include hypertension, diabetes, reduced physical movement, cancer, fatigue, mental illness, and tuberculosis” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 12). This situation explains why PHNs should be ready to support their respective communities.
PHNs “should monitor various health risks and problems” (Kulbok et al., 2012, p. 2). They should design new programs in order to support their communities. They should ensure more people get the best health services. This practice will ensure every community achieves its health goals. PHNs should ensure their clients embrace the best health practices. The strategy will eventually improve the quality of medical care. Finally, PHNs should set the best health priorities. This practice will support the changing health needs of different communities.
